Toxicity: WHO III, US EPA IV. Acute oral LD50: 2000 mg/kg for male rats, 1300 mg/kg for female rats, 490 mg/kg for male mice, and 1200 mg/kg for female mice. Acute percutaneous LD50 of rats and rabbits was >1000 mg/kg, which was mild to rabbit skin. Moderate stimulation of rabbit eyes. Acute inhalation LC50 (4 hours): Male rats 4.79 mg/L air, female rats 3.13 mg/L air. Wild duck acute oral LD50 > 7900 mg / kg. Fish poison LC50: rainbow trout (96 hours) 27.8 mg / liter, squid (48 hours) 23.5 mg / liter, leeches (48 hours) 33.2 mg / liter. The acute oral dose of honeybee is >0.002 mg/head.
Uses: Paclobutrazol is used in fruit trees to inhibit vegetative growth and increase fruit setting rate; it is used for potted ornamental plants and flowers to inhibit plant height; it is used for rice to increase tillering, lodging resistance and increase yield.
